Daniel records the faithfulness of God during the exile, as His people live under the rule of foreign kings and hostile empires. Through Daniel and his fellow exiles, the Lord shows that He is able to preserve those who remain faithful to Him, even in the midst of pressure, persecution, and political power. Through dreams and visions, God reveals that earthly kingdoms rise and fall by His decree, and that no human dominion will endure beside His own. Yet the book does not end with exile or oppression, but with the promise of an everlasting kingdom that will never be destroyed. Daniel reveals that history is ruled from heaven, and that the final dominion belongs to the Most High.
