Obadiah declares the judgment of the Lord against Edom for its pride and its violence against its brother Jacob. Though Edom trusted in its strength and position, God makes clear that no nation stands secure in arrogance or indifference to injustice. The day of the Lord is proclaimed not only against Edom, but against all nations, revealing that each will be held accountable before Him. Yet the book ends with the promise that God’s people will be restored and His kingdom will prevail. Obadiah shows that the Lord opposes pride, defends His people, and will establish His rule over all.
